Roles are a way of categorising your contacts - example Roles include:

How to use Contact Roles
Stay on top of the roles you use
You can create as many Roles as your organisation needs
See the role(s) each contact has at a glance
You can see when a contact was given a Role and when that Role ended - open the Roles tab within the Contacts App
Track the population size of each role
You can report on the number of contacts that your organisation has in each Role over time
See, change and remove a contact’s role(s)
You can give a contact several Roles
Find contacts according to their role
You can filter to see the contacts who have particular Roles
Use forms and signup pages to automatically assign a Role to a contact
This lets you automatically assign a Role to a contact whenever a Signup Page is completed or whenever a colleague creates a new contact

Get started with Roles for Contacts
You have to be an Organisation Admin to create and edit Contact Roles however any user can assign one of those Roles to a Contact
