What this article covers:

How to set up a Project Automation

1. Start by creating a Saved Filter

2. Set a Saved Filter as the criteria for a Project Automation

  1. Open Designer in the left sidebar and choose Project Automations

  2. If you don’t have any Project Automations on your account, you’ll be taken directly to the New Project Automation page. If you do already have Project Automations, you’ll arrive on your Manage Project Automations page where you’ll need to click Create a Project Automation

  3. Name your Project Automation

  4. In the Criteria field; choose one of your Saved Filters.

    1. Note that you can only use a Saved Filter on a single Project Automation.

  5. Now go to Part 3.

3. Pick settings to apply automatically

  1. In the Actions pane; tick Automate preferences and customisations

  2. Now you can choose from a variety of settings that will be automatically applied to projects that match the criteria you’ve chosen. You can automate the following:

    1. Settings that are typically available on a Project’s Preferences page

    2. Adding surveys to a project

    3. Copying an Automation of Contacts to a project

  3. Once done, scroll to the bottom of the page and press Save

Managing your Project Automations

  • When you select Designer in the left sidebar and choose Project Automations, you arrive on a page that displays every Project Automation in your organisation. From here you can

    • Deactivate a project automation you no longer need

    • Delete a project automation (but only if it has never been used)

    • Edit a project automation

    • View the logs of a project automation - to find out which projects it ran on

    • Prioritise your project automations - this is only relevant if you have project automations using similar Saved Filters. In the scenario where a project meets the criteria of multiple Project Automations, the Prioritise button allows you to determine which Project Automation should take priority.
