Create a Numerical Tracker (value indicator)

Create a Numerical Tracker (value indicator)

You can create Numerical trackers on Makerble

Numerical Trackers (value indicators) are used to track numbers that are likely to change over time for an individual Contact

For example, common Numerical Trackers (value indicators) are:

  • Salary

  • Distance Run

  • Temperature

Numerical Trackers (Value Indicators) cannot be added to a project unless they are part of an Outcome.

How to create a new Numerical Tracker (Value Indicator)

There are several ways you can create a Numerical tracker - it just depends where you are within your platform

Starting in your Metrics App

  • Go to the Create Tracker page

    • Click Create in the top menu

    • Select Show More Options

    • Select Tracker/Outcome in the expanded menu that appears to the side

    • This takes you to the Create Tracker page and the first tab is the Activity Trackers tab

    • Select the 5th tab: Numerical Tracker

  • Enter the name of the Numerical Goal in the first field, e.g. “Distance Run”

  • In the Units field, you can choose the Units to use when tracking this number. Open the dropdown list and choose the Unit that is most relevant. In this example, it would be Miles or Kilometres.

  • If your Numerical sub goal is a number that does not require any units, for example “Competitions Won”, then select No Units in the Units dropdown list

  • If the unit required for your Numerical tracker does not exist, click the Make your own units button and create a new unit by pressing Save

  • Optionally open the Advanced section to

    • Add a Cover Image → this is the photo that appears if the Goal is shown on the Explore Goals page

    • Hide from other Organisations → tick this box if you do not want your Numerical Tracker to be available to other organisations to add to their own projects. The advantage of sharing Trackers between organisations is that it enables benchmarking to happen.

    • Rewrite as a survey question → if you add a sub goal to a survey, you can express it differently. For example, for the sub goal of “Found a new job”, when it appears in a survey you might want to phrase it as “Have you found a new job?”

    • Add custom icon → Makerble will automatically assign an icon to your goal unless you upload an icon. This should be a small file and should be a graphic icon rather than a photograph. There are several places where a Tracker’s icon is displayed:

    • Owner → choose whether the Tracker will be owned by you or your organisation. If you want other Organisation Admins to be able to edit the Progress Tracker, set the owner as your Organisation. This determines who has permission to edit the Tracker, i.e. change its

      • Name

      • Custom icon

      • Cover image

      • Hidden status from other organisations

    • Editorial Control → choose whether you want other people to be able to edit the Goal

    • Department → choose the purpose(s) that the Goal is for, i.e.

      • Public Impact (a Tracker that has a positive impact on society)

      • Professional (a Tracker that relates to work)

      • Personal (a Tracker that relates to an aspect of life)

  • Pressing the Save button will create the Tracker and redirect you to your Personal Library

  • Pressing the Save and Add Another button will create the Tracker and redirect you to a blank version of the Create Goal page on the Activity tab
