Participants: empower your contacts to See, Share and Discuss progress with you and other contacts

Your contacts can see, share and discuss progress with you, and optionally each other, when you turn them into Participants.

What this article covers

Choose how much access you want your Participants to have

  • There are 3 levels of access

Enable participants to See progress

  • Give contacts access to personalised charts that display their

    • previous answers to survey questions

    • progress-over-time towards metrics

  • Show contacts a personalised newsfeed that displays their previous survey responses

  • Maintain Confidentiality: Ordinary case notes and timeline posts that you and your colleagues have made are hidden from Participants

Enable participants to Share progress

  • Give contacts access to an interactive Progress Board that displays Question Cards for the survey questions or progress trackers that you want them to provide answers to or updates on

  • Allow them to upload files, provide quantitative updates, add a narrative to explain the numbers and answer your questions

Enable participants to Discuss progress

  • Ask clarification questions: If you have questions about anything submitted by a participant, you can add a comment to that post. The participant will be notified and can provide a follow-up answer as a comment.

  • Encourage peer review or peer-to-peer feedback: Optionally enable participants to

    • see the posts and answers provided by other participants.

    • add comments (or likes) to those answers

Why turn contacts into Participants?

Empower your contacts

  • Make your contacts Participants when you want to

    • spark agency among your contacts

    • inspire your contacts to take action themselves to achieve outcomes

    • create a community of practice where contacts can provide each other with peer-to-peer support, encouragement and where appropriate, friendly competition in a safe environment moderated by you.

Additional benefits

  • Participant Dashboard: Enable Participants to log their progress, track milestones, and stay engaged.

  • Data-Driven Insights: Participants can view their progress over time with intuitive charts.

  • Personalized Newsfeed: Keep Participants motivated with a dedicated newsfeed showcasing their activity.

  • Privacy First: Participants have access only to their own data, ensuring confidentiality.

  • Centralised Updates: All logged progress automatically appears on the Contact's timeline for your records.

How it works

Quick facts about Participants.

Participants…

  • have their own User Account

  • must be added to at least one Progress Board

  • can post progress towards metrics

  • can see their progress in a timeline

  • can Like and Comment on other contact’s progress and their own

  • can create Tips (e.g. to share reflections, good practice and insights)

  • can Like and discuss other people’s Tips

What’s the difference between a Participant, a Colleague and a Contact?

On Makerble you have colleagues and contacts.

  • Colleagues are usually your staff and volunteers

  • Contacts are usually the people who are engaged through that project - e.g. clients, beneficiaries, service-users, but also, referral partners, signposting partners, funders. (You might also have projects in which your staff and volunteers exist as Contacts - this is usually done when you are using Makerble in more of a HR-capacity to track for example Role Applications, Training Received, Appraisals, Diversity Equity Inclusion, etc)

Billing: how you’re charged for Participants

  • By default a contact is simply a record and a contact cannot login

  • When you make a contact a Participant, they can now login to Makerble

  • Participant Credits allow your Participants to login and use Makerble.

  • Each Participant Credit gives a Participant access to 1 project for 1 month

  • For example, a Participant with access to e.g. 3 projects for e.g. 6 months, would use 18 Participant Credits

  • You can purchase additional Participant Credits by emailing billing@makerble.com
