Edit a Project Form

Project Templates were formerly called Project Forms or Project Categories

Once projects have been created using a particular Project Template, you cannot delete that Project Template. You can only edit it.

When editing a Project Template you can

  • add new fields to the Project Template

  • change the order in which fields appear on the Create/Edit Project page

Steps to edit a Project Template:

  1. Press the settings cog icon button in the Tools column next to the Project Form you want to edit

  2. In the dropdown list you will see the Edit button, click it

  3. You arrive on the Edit Project Template page

  4. The Available Fields column has a dark blue Add New Field button that appears next to the Search Bar. Click it to create a new field. The Create a New Field pop-up will be launched.

    1. The new field can be of the following types:

      1. Text

      2. Number

      3. Date

      4. Time

      5. File Attachment

      6. Section Title

      7. List

    2. Give it an Internal name/Administrative title. This is the name/title of the field.

    3. Give it a Displayed title. This is the name/title that will appear in the event category.

    4. Choose the Owner Type and set the privacy.

  5. Press Save

  6. The left column shows the Available fields: these are publicly available fields that you can add to your Project Template.

    1. If you want to create your own fields, you need to save your Project Template first and then go back and edit it.

  7. Fields you add to your project form will appear in the right column called Current fields

  8. Use the arrows to reorder the fields on your Project Form

  9. Certain fields cannot be removed because they are required by the platform when creating a project. These are:

    1. Name

    2. Year Start Date (a hidden field which does not actually appear on the New Project form)

    3. Editors (the system name for Project Managers)

    4. Reporters

    5. Observers (the system name for Project Members)

  10. You can also edit the field, by clicking on the Edit next to the name of the field. (This appears next to the existing fields and not the newly created fields.)

  11. A pop-up appears that lets you edit the name/title of how the field will appear in the project form.

  12. Once done editing, press Save. The change will be reflected in the Fields on your form

    section.

  13. Press Save to create your Project Template

  14. You arrive back on the Manage Project Templates page
