Manage a contact's many email addresses

You might have several email addresses for a single contact. This article outlines how you can stay on top of all of these email addresses on Makerble.

Why are there several email addresses in the first place?

The main ways that a contact can end up with several email addresses are:

  1. You have several Custom Fields that are being used for email addresses.

    1. For example you might have fields called

      1. Email Address

      2. Email

      3. Primary Email Address

      4. Secondary Email Address

    2. Each of these email addresses is an independent field. This means that if you add information into several of those fields for a single contact, then you will have several email addresses saved for that contact.

    3. There are two places where you can see the fields that exist on your account.

      1. Manage and Edit your fields (the Fields page)

      2. See the fields used in your Contact Forms (the Fields per Form page)

  2. You saved a contact’s email address but then either you or a colleague edited that contact’s email address.

    1. In this scenario the old Email Address is still saved in the system… (this is because you might have either sent emails or unique survey links to that contact or received emails from that contact using that email address - which means that the system needs to know the email address of that contact)… but it will not be shown in the contact’s main Email field.

  3. From here you can deactivate email addresses they no longer use and decide which one appears in the main email address field in the contact’s Bio

Where will all of these different email addresses appear?

A contact’s Bio

  • On a contact’s Bio you’ll see a field called Main email which appears in the Basic Details section

  • Within the Other Details section you will see any other Fields that are storing an email address for that contact
