Assigning a Contact Audience (formerly Role) to a Contact Type helps you organize organise your contacts as well as and contact forms.
This organized approach makes it easier to identify the contacts and/or contact forms based on the roles audience and types.
There are several places where you can assign a contact role audience (formerly Role) to a contact type
On the Manage Contact Form page

On the Manage Contact Form page
Navigate to the Manage Contact Form page.
Click on the Design Your RolesAudience button.
You arrive at the Manage Design Your Role Audience page.
You can assign the existing contact audiences (formerly roles) to the contact types by clicking on the check box that is below each contact type.
You can also create a role an audience by clicking on the Add another roleAudience
A text box asking you to enter the name of the role audience appears. Enter the name and click on Save.
This will take you to the Create Contact Form page.
Go back to the Manage Design Your Role Audience (formerly Roles)page and you can now assign the newly created role audience with the contact types.
You can also Edit the name of the role audience by clicking on the icon, edit the role, and press icon.
You can remove any roles audience(s) which are not yet used on a contact form by clicking on the X-Remove.
