This article explains how to add, edit the text of, reorder and remove the Answer Choices in a multiple choice question that has already been added to a survey.

Previous survey response data will be altered when edit the text of an Answer Choice.

  • This is because Makerble records the ID of the answer choice that a respondent chose, rather than a snapshot of the text used for the answer choice at that time.

Previous survey response data will be altered when you remove an Answer Choice.

  • This is because Makerble records the ID of the answer choice that a respondent chose, rather than a snapshot of the text used for the answer choice at that time. So removing the Answer Choice will delete that Answer Choice’s ID.

You cannot directly edit the Answer Choices of a survey question that uses Shared Answer Choices.

Instead you must edit the Answer Choices of the Master Question and this will then automatically edit the Answer Choices of the questions that use Shared Answer Choices that are anchored to the Master Question

How to REORDER the Answer Choices

The order that the Answer Choices appear in is based on the Priority number stated below that Item.

When reordering, always change the Priority numbers, rather than changing the text in the Item fields.

  • This is because each Item is an Answer Choice and each Answer Choice has an Answer Choice ID.

  • When a respondent chooses an Answer Choice, Makerble stores the Answer Choice ID, rather than a snapshot of the text in the Item field at that time

  • Therefore if you edit the text in the Item field (i.e. the text for that Answer Choice), this alteration will appear on all existing survey responses

  1. Click the Priority box under each item

  2. Change the number so that the Items (Answer Choices) are now in the order you want them to be, counting up from 1 where the Answer Choice with the lowest number (above zero) will appear first (i.e. on the left) and higher numbers will appear subsequently.

  3. Check that each Item (Answer Choice) has a unique

  4. Press save
