What are Project Templates

Project Templates (also known as Project Forms/Categories) enable you to choose which fields are displayed on the Create/Edit Project page.

By default, every organisation has one Project Template called “Project” that contains these standard fields:

  • Name

  • Cover Image

  • Project Managers

  • Project Reporters

  • Project Members

  • Short Description

  • Long Description

Those fields are displayed on the Create Project page, illustrated below

An organisation can have many Project Forms.

Using a project template when creating a Project

A project can only be associated with one project form.

  • This differs to the rule for contacts; a contact can have several Contact Forms applied to their contact record.

  • But is the same as the rule for stories; a story can only be associated with one story category (also known as a survey)

Steps

  1. Go to the Create a Project page

  2. If your organisation has multiple Project Templates, then when an Admin or Project Creator is creating a project, they are able to choose which Project Template they wish to use by clicking the Project Template field at the top of the form.

  3. Once you select a form, the Project Page will update automatically

If you have already started completing some of the fields and then decide to change the Project Template midway through, your information will be lost.
