You can manage your Signposting Partners using the Contacts App.

Terminology

  • Referrals on Makerble are inbound - i.e. recording the sources from which contacts are added to your organisation and its projects

  • Signposting on Makerble is outbound - i.e. recording the destinations to which you send your contacts

When you use the Signposting features on Makerble, you can:

  • Report on the number of signpostings made

  • Report on the specific destinations that you signposted your contacts to

  • Gain a better understanding of which organisations and individuals your staff are signposting your clients to

  • Avoid duplication and crossed wires within your team because everyone can see the history of signposts that relate to each of your clients

  • There is no limit to the number of times that a contact can be signposted.

  • A contact can be signposted to many organisations

Setup steps

This guide covers the 3 stages of setup

  1. Associate a Contact Form with the ‘organisation’ Contact Type

  2. Designate a project for storing your Signpost Partners

  3. Distinguish between Signposting Partner Organisations and the Individuals that work within them (and indeed any Signpost Partners that are only individuals rather than being employees of an organisation)

1. Associate a Contact Form with the ‘organisation’ Contact Type

  • Create a Contact Form that you can use to store details of your Signpost Partner Organisations

  • Follow the steps to Create a Contact Form but make sure you set the Contact Type as Organisations, not People

2. Designate a project for storing your Signpost Partners

  • It is best to create a separate project for your Signposting Partners.

  • Click Create in the top menu and select Project.

  • Call the project “Signposting Partners” and press Save. (Alternatively you might want to put them in a project called “Stakeholders”)

3. Distinguish between Signposting Partner Organisations and Individuals

  • If you ordinarily distinguish between referral partners which are organisations versus the individuals that work for them, then you can create two different Contact Forms; one for Signposting Partner Organisations and another for Signposting Partner Individuals

  • Follow the steps to Create a Contact Form for Signposting Partner Individuals. Set the Contact Type as People

  • Add both Contact Forms to your Signposting Partners project using the steps outlined here Add a contact form and states to a project
