Numerical sub goals (Value Indicators) are used to track numbers that are likely to change over time for an individual Contact

For example, a common Numerical sub goals (Value Indicators) are:

  • Salary

  • Distance Run

  • Temperature

Note

Numerical sub goals (Value Indicators) cannot be added to a project unless they are part of an Outcome Goal.

To create a new Numerical sub goal (Value Indicator)

  • Go to the Create Goal page

    • Click Create in the top menu

    • Select Show More Options

    • Select Goal in the expanded menu that appears to the side

    • This takes you to the Create Goal page and the first tab is the Activity Goals tab

    • Select the 5th tab: Numerical sub goal

  • Enter the name of the Numerical Goal in the first field, e.g. “Distance Run”

  • In the Units field, you can choose the Units to use when tracking this number. Open the dropdown list and choose the Unit that is most relevant. In this example, it would be Miles or Kilometres.

  • If your Numerical sub goal is a number that does not require any units, for example “Competitions Won”, then select No Units in the Units dropdown list

  • If the unit required for your Numerical sub goal does not exist, click the Make your own units button and create a new unit by pressing Save

  • Optionally open the Advanced section to

    • Add a Cover Image → this is the photo that appears if the Goal is shown on the Explore Goals page

    • Hide from other Organisations → tick this box if you do not want your Goal to be available to other organisations to add to their own projects. The advantage of sharing Goals between organisations is that it enables benchmarking to happen.

    • Rewrite as a survey question → if you add a sub goal to a survey, you can express it differently. For example, for the sub goal of “Found a new job”, when it appears in a survey you might want to phrase it as “Have you found a new job?”

    • Add custom icon → Makerble will automatically assign an icon to your goal unless you upload an icon. This should be a small file and should be a graphic icon rather than a photograph. There are several places where a Goal’s icon is displayed:

    • Owner → choose whether the Goal will be owned by you or your organisation. This determines who has permission to edit the Goal, i.e. change its

      • Name

      • Custom icon

      • Cover image

      • Hidden status from other organisations

    • Editorial Control → choose whether you want other people to be able to edit the Goal

    • Department → choose the purpose(s) that the Goal is for, i.e.

      • Public Impact (a Goal that has a positive impact on society)

      • Professional (a Goal that relates to work)

      • Personal (a Goal that relates to an aspect of life)

  • Pressing the Save button will create the Goal and redirect you to your Personal Goals Library

  • Pressing the Save and Add Another button will create the Goal and redirect you to a blank version of the Create Goal page on the Activity tab
