You As a signed-in-user you can create a new contact from several places:

  • The Create Menu

  • Within the Contacts App

  • My Home

Info

Users must be given permission to create contacts. This permission is set using Organisation Preferences.

Step by step instructions

From the Create Menu

  1. From any page on Makerble, select Create in the top menu

  2. In the dropdown menu, select Contact

  3. A page appears with a single dropdown list called Choose a project

  4. Type the name of your project in that dropdown list

  5. A list of matching projects will appear

  6. Select the project that the contact will be added to

  7. You are now prompted to choose a form to use to create your contact

  8. Click the dropdown list to see a list of the Contact Forms available

  9. Select the Contact Form to use to create the contact

  10. You are now prompted to choose a type of contact

  11. Click the dropdown list to see the types that are available on the Contact Form you have chosen

  12. Select the Type of Contact you want to create (Person, Organisation, Object or Animal)

  13. Now the rest of the form will load

  14. Add the relevant details and press Save

  15. You arrive on the Contact Profile page for the newly created contact: the details you entered in the form are displayed in the section on the left side.

Summary of the process

  1. Choose the project that the contact will be created within

    1. Project choice is not permanent.

    2. Once a contact has been created within a project, they can be added to additional projects and/or removed from the original project

  2. Choose the Contact Form to use to create the contact

  3. Select the Type of Contact you want to create (Person, Organisation, Object or Animal)

  4. Add the details of the Contact and press Save

  5. You arrive on the Contact Profile page for the newly created contact

From the Homepage

  1. Go to My Home

  2. In the left column is the Contacts box

  3. Select the New Contact button

  4. This launches a popup

  5. Select the project that the contact will be added to

  6. Select the Contact Form to use to create the contact

  7. Select the Type of Contact you want to create (Person, Organisation, Object or Animal)

  8. Add the details of the Contact and press Save

  9. You arrive on the Contact Profile page for the newly created contact
    1. Every project may have one or more contact forms assigned to it.

    2. Once a contact has been created, their record can be updated with details from additional Contact Forms

  10. Choose the Contact Type to assign to the contact.

    1. There are four possible types: Person, Organisation, Animal and Object.

  11. Complete the Contact Form to create the new contact.
